Pages is a full-featured online word processor. Things like the items in your dock, trackpad gestures, etc. You can use the same techniques I demonstrate in this tutorial to create essays, posters, envelopes or any of the other great document types Pages for iCloud supports. Note: you will, obviously, lose your preferences in many apps by doing this. Open iWork apps, rejoice at the problem being solved. Short story long: DON'T DELETE THE "com~apple~Pages" and "com~apple~Keynote" FOLDERS, THIS DELETES ALL THE DOCUMENTS YOU ARE STORING ON ICLOUD. Suddenly I wish I had the money to spare for an external harddrive so I could use time machine. Pages on my iMac still insn't syncying so no only is that not working but now I've lost a lot of hard work too. I'm not sure how this hasn't happened for anyone else but I wanted to point it out before someone else sees all their files vanish instantly. They are not accessable on my iMac or iPad or by using the website. Not just from my iMac but from iCloud all together. And all the documents in my iCloud for Pages and Keynote vanished. This didn't click in as significant until after I deleted the folders. it was simply displaying iCloud as the location.

When I deleted the "com~apple~Pages" and "com~apple~Keynote" folders on my iMac what I didn't notice was that in Finder it wasn't displaying a place on my iMac HD. I tried restarting but that didn't do anything. Except Pages on my Mac still wasn't syncing. Turnign sync on and off did something that got my iPad syncing again without issue. Yesterday I noticed that on my iMac, Pages displayed "waiting" for documents in iCloud much like in the picture above. In other words, I now have two documents by the same name, in diffierent places, in different stages of change.Tuesday evening, I noticed that my iPad wasn't syncing documents in Pages. It does load the changed Numbers document on the iMac, but as a new document from the one being changed. However, when I make changes on the iPad and want to save the changes to the iMac, I figured I would use download. I, of course, tell it to replace since I have made changes. My question is, where I have already uploaded a Numbers document from my iMac, and then I make changes on my iMac, when I upload the document again it asks to replace the previous document of the same name I previously uploaded.

It will take you to Finder whre you can click on one or more documents. I really hope Apple updates this so that it automatically syncs with Macs also, because otherwise it's usefulness is severely limited.Īnother way to get a Numbers, for example, document from iMac to iCloud and then to iPad, is to click on the gear icon in upper right corner and click upload. So to sync with the Mac, you have to manually drag and drop into the iCloud interface. You can also drag and drop any iWork ’09 or Microsoft Office document from your computer into one of the iWork apps on, and it automatically appears on all your iOS devices, ready for you to review, edit, or present.

Click a document to download it in iWork ’09, Microsoft Office, or PDF format. Just sign in to /iwork in any modern web browser, and all your iWork for iOS documents will be there - complete with your most recent edits. ICloud makes it easy to move Pages, Keynote, and Numbers documents between your computer and your iOS devices. This is the quote from the iCloud documents page :ĭocuments in the Cloud. It only automatically syncs documents across iOS devices, but not Macs. Apparently, it doesn't actually do what we want it to (and what I thought it was presented as doing). I too realized this was happening for me, and read the iCloud features page more closely.
